Shipai, Beitou : ウィキペディア英語版 | Shipai, Beitou Shipai or Shihpai () is a region in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan, it includes seven villages (里): Shipai (石牌), Wenlin (文林), Ronghua (榮華), Zhenhua (振華), Yumin (裕民), Fuxing (福興), and Jianmin (建民). ==History== Before the Qing Dynasty of China, Shipai was the territory of the local Taiwanese aborigines. In the early Qing Dynasty, Han Chinese started to settle this area. As a result, the two sides fought a lot. In about 1745 to 1748, the tenth officer of the local government erected many stone tablets to split the two groups apart. One of the stone tablets became the origin of the name Shipai, which means stone tablet. The original site of the tablet was believed to be located at the Yonghe Neighborhood. It was moved to the Shipai Police Station in 1935. The police station moved, in 1999, to a place near the Shipai Metro Station. It is believed that this place is closer to the original site.
